Alexander Lee (he/they)

Composer/Pianist

An LA-based artist who has studied music from early age with wide-eyed wonder. His experience performing with marching bands, wind ensembles, jazz combos, and various chamber ensembles (in addition to performing solo piano repertoire), has inspired and enabled his obsession with details hidden in the music. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in 2016 studying composition with Dr. Alan Shockley, Dr. Raymond Torres-Santos, and Dr. Alexander Miller. He completed his Master’s Degree at the same institution in 2019 studying piano performance with Craig Richey. He has composed works for a variety of non-traditional and experimental chamber ensembles, with an intent driven by spatial awareness, fractal recursion, and cyclical narratives. In addition to composing some of his own solo repertoire, he chooses to program solo works that are lesser known and often not performed. This is exemplary of his commitment to sharing hidden gems from lesser known composers and widening the palette of all lovers of music. His ultimate goal as an artist is to share the knowledge that all is an illusion.
